1968 - Charl and 17 mile drive?

Was my father trying to take a picture of Charlie or the view. He tried to do both. I'm going to guess 17 mile drive which is in the southern part of Monterey Bay, likely in Monterey itself. I'll say that they might be near Point Lobos State Reserve which is truly beautiful. Somehow the water is never that color elsewhere.

This area is north of Big Sur. Where some years later I went camping. And got the worst sunburn of my life. There are no trees really in Big Sur so no shade and if you are camping in the sunshine, well then.

1968 - At confirmation reception

Our honored guest was Mrs. Kubo, my Ebglish teacher. She's on the left in the white hat. In the foregroun in profile was just about my favorite person at the time Robert who was going as "Igor" at that time. He's had a successful career as a concert pianist. I've long lost touch with him. His talent was dazzling at the time. Mitch C sitting to the right of me. Check out the bright red upsweep in the foreground. Whew, what were people thinking nearly 40 years ago????

1968 - Before my confirmation?

Myself, Nobuko, my mother and brother posing in the back of the Wilhaggin house maybe before my confirmation? I had flowers associated with it? I remember the dress, I liked it, though I didn't wear it very many times. There was a little dress store behind the ice cream store right across from Arden Town. I remember always being able to find a dress there.

That yard is very beuatiful now, the people there have lived there many years and the lady is a marvelous gardener. My family only lived there 1964-70.

1968 - Nobuko and Pam

In front of our fireplace in the family room at the Wilhaggin home. I think. I vaguely remember it but I don't think it was ever used. A few years back, when I visited the Wilhaggin house, we didn't go inside, just stayed in the yard

1968 - Nobuko graduates

Nobuko got to participate in the graduation ceremony at Rio Americano High School in 1968. I think she was already 19 and she still had a year of school to complete in Japan on her return. I might have mentioned that she and her husband came to visit a few years ago and I really enjoyed it. I didn't appreciate her back in 1968!

1968 - On the way to Philmont?

The only thing I can think this could be was the trip to Philmont where my parents (or maybe just my mom) too a group of boy scouts to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico.

Could be a snack stop for these boys with their buttoned shirts and their khaki knapsacks. I can see my mom and I think my brother's hanging out with her; he might have felt out of place with all of these other guys. Don't know why they are in this driveway.

And the cow somehow completes the picture.

1968 - Charlie

Charlie, in 1968, 14 years old. Maybe we're visiting a college campus? My family always liked visiting campuses.

Maybe one reason I quit was, as we get farther along, I was separating myself more and more. Some of these things I don't remember. Charl, maybe you know where we were?

1968 - Matching outfits

I'm back! Resuming by Ginsburgh Family Pictures blog

Nobuko and Sandy in matching outfits along with Charlie (14) and Pam (9) in front of the Wilhaggin home. Summertime given the sleeveless outfits and sandals. We thought we were very cute with out bright prints with the oversize distorted ties.
