1964 - Charlie has some fish
Aptos, Father and Charlie maybe went on a fishing trip or maybe just out on the pier. Apparently they caught these fish. Poor fellows but I think Charlie was proud!
One of the only times I remember we stayed in kinda an apartment or maybe it was a duplex. It made an impression because the bedrooms were upstairs and the living room and kitchen were down stairs. The picture is of the front entrance.
Charlie and Dad went deep sea fishing. I was impressed because they went on a boat and left very early in the morning. They came back with three fish and Charlie was VERY proud. I don't remember eating them. Mom must of cooked them after Father cleaned them. I thinkg that was the deal. He had to clean them and she would cook them.
We never watched TV during our Aptos vacations. Always had a bunch of Library books to read. Only radio I remember was baseball games while sitting on the beach. Very cold water and waves to jump and body/raft surf in. Always a long walk along the beach after dinner with bare feet but long pants and sweat shirts. It cooled off close to sunset whick felt great. Nice change from the hot dry Sacramento summer and hot beach day.
That was the only we went deep sea fishing. Father and Charlie. We were both a little seasick at the beginnning. Deep sea fishing was not very exciting. YOu dropped your line down and then after awhile you pulled up your line and there was a fish or not. When you pulled it up, they were distorted because of the pressure, distended. After they were out on the deck they started looking more normal.
Red Rock Cod??? I remember the biggest one, bright red, looked like something out of a cartoon.
